Find your slave ancestors

The Martinique Heritage Database gives you access to unpublished information on the history of slavery and the genealogy of slaves through the individuality and slave registers.
These registers were used to record the civil status of the freed population. They go back to the end of July 1848. This is when family names were given to the slaves, who previously did not have one.
For the first time in Martinique, you can consult on-line these registers that are so precious for genealogical research and for the information they contain: family name, first name, age, ascendants (in general, the first name of the mother), identity number, town of birth, etc.
